I love both sides ! I don't think either side charted subsequent to the record's release back in 1958 . And I'd venture that the only reason these great sides didn't was because there was so much other fabulous material back then competing for distinction on the charts .

I remember my dad back in the fifties had a record player and a few records. The record l recall listening to was "Take an oid cold tater and wait". 65 plus years later and still enjoy this great singer's songs. Thank you very much for posting this.

Both sides pretty good , especially the latter track . I know it's a truism that quality outweighs quantity but nonetheless I think that with a running time of less than two minutes that second track is somewhat devalued . Of course the opposite condition where a track is too drawn out , say way over four minutes , irrespective of its quality , that too can detract from any merit the song itself might have . Just my opinion folks......

I grew up near Prospect Oregon on the Rogue River and this goofy song was in the jukebox at the Gorge Café. When my husband and I lived there he got a copy of this song on a 45 and they had misspelled the word “rogue“. They had it printed on the 45 as “Ballad of the ‘Rouge’ River” 😂😂😂 GREAT days! Freaking paradise!
